Connick Jr. Returns To Traditional Jazz May
24, 2003 - Actor, singer and Pianist Harry Connick Jr. is going back to traditional
Jazz on his next album due out July 15th. "Other Hours - Connick on Piano,
Volume 1," will be a small ensemble instrumental album to be released on
Marsalis Music a new label formed by saxophonist Branford Marsalis. Throughout
his career Connick has touched on different sides of Jazz from pop standards to
big band but he says this new album represents where his head is at now. Most
of the tunes on "Other Hours" come from Connick's Tony-nominated score
for the Broadway musical "Thou Shalt Not." Also expect to hear a few
members of Connick's touring orchestra including tenor saxophonist Ned Goold,
bassist Neal Caine, and drummer Arthur Latin II. It's been a busy few years for
Connick who had a recurring role on TV's "Will and Grace."
