Diana Krall Upsets Fans at Concert
August 13, 2003 - Some Diana Krall fans were a little miffed with the singer at an open air concert last week. The show at the North London stately-home's grounds has a long running tradition of letting fans watch performers warm up but Krall's contract stipulated there would be no sneak peaks. One fan, Jack Lamport-Mitchell was very upset. "It's ridiculous," he told the press, "In previous years, Lesley Garrett and Kiki Dee's rehearsals were two hours and we had a wonderful time. Diana Krall is a prima donna." Concert organizers say this was the first time any artist refused fans access to the rehearsal.

New Diana Krall CD Scheduled for November 4th
July 9, 2003 - Verve records have announced that Diana Krall will unveil her yet untitled new album on November 4th. Parts of the new album are already recorded and the label says, "look for a slightly new direction with some tunes by contemporary pop and blues writers." Krall performed a few sneak preview shows a few weeks ago at San Francisco's Yoshi's Jazz club. Here's what the San Francisco Chronicle said about the shows,

"I'm really nervous, can you tell?" Diana Krall asked the audience at Yoshi's Thursday.

She was answered with a round of applause. Yes, they could tell. The exquisitely accomplished singer-pianist was obviously winging it on the first of six sold-out nights at the East Bay club, and it was a beautiful thing to see: a performance that both spotlighted Krall's raw talent and captured the unpredictable, improvisational essence of jazz and blues.

Understanding that the most important statements are best delivered in whispers, Krall never resorts to vocal pyrotechnics, though she has the lungs to do it.
